THE GATHERING Singer On New Album: 'We Are Now On A Roll'
December 1, 2005THE GATHERING frontwoman Anneke van Giersbergen has offered the following update on the recording sessions for the group's new studio album:
"Yet another note from the church. We are now on a roll and we are very pleased to let you know the songs are getting shaped up to a fine level of quality!
"Some songs don't change that much from the demos we already made and some songs are completely turned upside down and change drastically... for the better. It's amazing how a drum or guitar sound or a loop can change an entire song and give a twist to the atmosphere.
"We work long days and every part of the day brings another kind of inspiration. In the evening we watch movies or listen to music and also, every day we have a different friend over to make us dinner. Not only friends actually, our financial manager, documentary director, the actual owner of this church and our parents turn up to make sure we don't drop from behind our instruments. They all turn out to be fantastic cooks!
"Today we had the pleasure of enjoying the magnificent 'hot chicken' dish from Hans' and René's dad Henk. Goodness me, we are still in a total food-coma. As I am typing this message, the boys are drinking coffee and Hans and René are recording a drum and guitar loop for a song which right now is called 'Lutine'."
THE GATHERING are currently in the studio — a professional home-made studio built within a church in the small town of Maurik — recording their ninth studio album with producer Attie Bauw, with whom they had previously worked on their 1998 album, "How To Measure A Planet?"
The CD is scheduled to surface sometime in the spring on the band’s own label Psychonaut Records (available on The End Records in North America),with a tour to follow around the same time in South America and the U.S.
